Descrizione

American Dad! è una serie televisiva di cartoni animati creata da Seth MacFarlane nel 2005 per il network FOX. La prima messa in onda in Italia è del 12 dicembre 2006 sul canale televisivo Italia 1, dapprima di pomeriggio, poi una volta alla settimana la notte, poi ancora solo il sabato, infine (all'inizio del 2010) quotidianamente all'ora di pranzo.
La serie ha debuttato sul canale satellitare Fox di SKY il 20 gennaio 2009.
La famiglia protagonista del cartone, che vive in una cittadina della Virginia chiamata Langley Falls, è la rappresentazione dissacrante di una famiglia americana del dopo 11 settembre.

Trama

La serie ruota attorno alla vita quotidiana di Stan Smith, un fervente repubblicano patriota che lavora alla CIA. È sposato con Francine Smith, una casalinga piuttosto sciocca che tenta di riprendersi da una giovinezza selvaggia. I loro due figli sono Hayley Smith, una convinta attivista di sinistra, e Steve Smith, un goffo nerd adolescente. Con gli Smith, convivono anche due non-umani – Roger, un alieno fuggito dall'Area 51 e segretamente ospitato da Stan, e Klaus, un pesce a cui è stato impiantato dalla CIA il cervello di uno sciatore tedesco della DDR.
Gli episodi generalmente ruotano attorno alle disavventure dei vari membri della famiglia. Temi ricorrenti includono il desiderio di Stan che Roger maturi, la voglia di Roger di crearsi una vita al di fuori di casa Smith e il conflitto fra le idee politiche di Hayley e quelle di suo padre.
